Hybrid Wood Herringbone – Cream Oak

Some time ago, we proudly introduced our Hybrid Wood collection! These floors are revolutionary within the flooring industry: they are scratch-resistant, made of real oak wood, ultra-strong, and repel both moisture and dirt. Additionally, they are water-resistant. The best part? They can be installed either by gluing or floating! This means that an experienced handyman or a professional parquet installer can lay them with ease!

Glued or floating installation?

Yes, you read it right. Floer’s Hybrid Wood floors can be installed either by gluing or floating. This means that the Hybrid Wood floors can also be installed on a subfloor. However, how do you decide whether to lay the Floer glued down or floating? We provide some points to consider so that you can make the right choice before you start laying.

Hybrid Wood floors from Floer can be installed both glued and floating!

Hybrid Wood floors have a click connection that is different from the “standard” parquet floors. The XL planks use the Fastclick connection, while the Hybrid Wood herringbone floors use the unique UniZip connection. If you know how to lay a laminate floor, you already know how to lay a Hybrid Wood floor!

Additionally, the floor is easy to remove from the room if you move, or if a board gets damaged (although we don’t foresee that happening anytime soon!). With a floating installation, the floorboards are not permanently attached to the subfloor, making them easy to move or remove. This also adds to the sustainability of the product, as you can simply take your Floer with you when you move to a new home.

Reducing noise

Adding a floating floor to your living space adds a nice touch and helps reduce contact noise that could otherwise disturb your downstairs neighbours. This can be especially beneficial in a multi-unit building. It’s important to note that there may be legal noise reduction requirements in place for your property. To avoid any unwanted surprises, check with the owners’ association to ensure your chosen floor and underlay comply with the law before purchasing.

Can I install a floating floor?

If you want to install your hybrid floor in a floating manner, you may be concerned about whether your subfloor is level enough and whether your chosen subfloor can even out any unevenness. Don’t worry! Here’s a handy trick to check if your subfloor has too much height difference. Take a straight 2-meter lath and lay it on the subfloor of the room. Look under the batten and measure the size of any unevenness (folds). If you don’t have any bumps larger than 2 mm, great! You can use the Green Slabs underlay, which levels up to 3 mm and is suitable for small unevennesses up to 2 mm.

When should I level?

Have you purchased a house and want to install a Hybrid Wood floor? It’s possible! Hybrid floors can be glued onto a sand-cement floor, much like wooden herringbone parquet floors. It’s important to ensure that the sand-cement floor is not uneven by more than 2 mm. Any present unevennesses will be filled by the thick parquet adhesive, so levelling won’t be necessary. If you have larger unevennesses, however, you will need to level them. Check out the Floer blog for more information on levelling a subfloor.

Advantages of glued Hybrid Wood floors

Glued installation of a Floer, similar to a floating installation, offers several advantages. Since the floor is glued to the substrate, it will have a super stable location, like vinyl flooring. This stable location will also ensure that the floor will move less than with a floating installation.

A glued floor can improve sound insulation from walking noise. Because there is no space between the floor and the subfloor, walking, and impact noise are reduced. This results in a more solid walking sound, similar to the sound of walking on a parquet floor.

For all the heat lovers out there, a glued installation ensures that the floor transfers heat from the underfloor heating more efficiently, resulting in less heat loss. This is because the heat is evenly distributed throughout the floor, making it perfect for those who like to stay warm.

Which is better glued or floating installation?

Whether you prefer the simplicity and flexibility of a floating installation or the stability and durability of a glued laying, Hybrid Wood offers both options without compromising quality or visual appeal. This makes Hybrid Wood a unique product within our collections and a game-changer for anyone looking for the perfect flooring solution. Both installation methods have their own advantages, ranging from easy installation and flexibility to super stable location and heat transfer. Therefore, the best method depends solely on your personal preference and situation. Hopefully, this blog has helped you better understand the choice between a floating and glued installation of Hybrid Wood floors.
