Safety above all else! You’ve surely seen the term pass by before and we, of course, completely agree with this. There are some people who feel that Vinyl flooring is not safe and bad for your health. In this blog, we will answer you a very burning question. Is Vinyl flooring safe? You can read it here!
What are Vinyl floors made of?
The floors are made of a plastic called PolyVinylChloride, to make it a little easier we use the abbreviation Vinyl for this. Is just a little better to remember anyway. Rigid Click Vinyl flooring comes in two different types, namely click Vinyl and glue Vinyl flooring. The name actually indicates the difference between these two floors. Rigid Click Vinyl floors feature a very convenient click connection with which you connect the floorboards together. Vinyl floors such as wide Vinyl, on the other hand, do not have a similar connection and have to be laid glued to the subfloor.
Click Vinyl floors feature a ‘rigid mineral core’ intermediate layer that ensures that the floor is very stable. This intermediate layer consists of a mix of Vinyl and stone minerals, hence the name ‘mineral core’. Curious about the difference between Vinyl floors? Is Vinyl flooring safe?
Yes, it definitely is! It’s just that you’re not supposed to eat the floor. But with normal use, Vinyl flooring is a safe choice and certainly non-toxic. All Vinyl flooring has an A+ emission rating and REACH certificate. These labels show that the floors are safe and not harmful to health. Some cowboy stories still like to arise about Vinyl flooring not being safe. That is not correct in this case. ‘Back in the day’ there were not such strict requirements on them as there are today.
Does using Vinyl also have advantages over laminate flooring, for example? Yes indeed! Vinyl flooring brings many advantages. One of them is that the floors are 100% water-resistant. So it doesn’t matter if you spill water on the floor. Handy for the clumsy types among us. Other big advantages are that the material is sound-absorbing and goes perfectly with an underfloor heating system. These properties, together with the softness of the floor, make it a very pleasant experience to walk on this floor. Soundproofing these floors can also make for a lot less nuisance, again convenient. Besides the benefits mentioned, there are a number of other advantages that make Vinyl a very suitable floor for any home. Want to know all of them?
