Benefits of a continuous floor pattern

When choosing a new floor for your home, there are several requirements it must meet. Consider the usage class, colour, material, laying pattern, and whether or not it is waterproof. However, the printed pattern of a floor is also important! In this blog, we will explain the advantages of a continuous floor pattern, making it easier for you to choose the right floor for your home quickly and efficiently.

1. Optical effect

The floor has a great impact on the visual appeal of a room. By “visual appeal” we mean how a room looks and how spacious it appears. It is important to note that a floor cannot actually increase the size of a room; for that, you would need to consult a contractor. To make the most of a room’s visual appeal, it is crucial to choose the right laying direction. A useful rule of thumb is to consider the direction of the light source. If you lay the floorboards towards the largest light source, the light will help accentuate the length of the floor, thereby creating an illusion of a larger room.

Having multiple light sources gives you more options! You can choose to make the room look wider or longer. If the space feels too short, lay the floorboards lengthwise along the shortest wall. Your eyes will be tricked and the room will appear longer. If you use a floor with a continuous pattern, such as the Country House Laminate, the effect will be even greater! Simply choose the laying direction and let your eyes do the rest.

2. Laying speed

In addition to the optical effect that a continuous pattern floor provides, there are other advantages to these types of floors! One of the biggest benefits is their fast installation time. Due to the relatively long and wide planks, you can cover more floor space in one go. This means you’ll be able to finish laying your new floor much faster!

Thanks to the convenient Variclick connection, even inexperienced handymen can lay this floor in no time. Once the boards are clicked together, the joint is sealed, preventing dirt or bacteria from getting in between. Additionally, the combination of this seal and the water-resistant coating of the grooves makes the floor waterproof. This means that the floor can resist (small) puddles of water for up to four hours without sustaining damage.

3. Natural look

Of course, a floor should also be visually appealing! The name says it all: one advantage of a continuous floor pattern is that the floorboards appear to run indefinitely. This is due not only to the continuous pattern but also to the 2V groove present on the long sides of the floorboards. These two factors give the extra wide laminate floors a natural look as if they were slices of tree trunk fresh from the forest.

The Country House Laminate collection offers floors in a range of 10 colours, from dark to light, and from brown to grey. With something for everyone, you can choose to alternate extra-wide laminate with narrower planks using the 3 different Country House Variation Laminate floors. Using these floors, you can alternate the wide planks of 32.8 cm with narrower planks of 19.8 cm wide, creating a unique look. The printed structure of knots and grains gives the floor a robust yet luxurious appearance.
