Choosing the right floor can be quite a challenge. It is important that the floor matches your interior and living situation. To help you gain some clarity about all the different types of flooring, in this blog we look at two popular types of flooring: Rigid Click Vinyl and Hybrid Wood. We’ll explain the differences so you can make an informed decision. So treat yourself to a cup of coffee, sit back and discover the differences.

Differences in material

You’ve probably already guessed it, but Rigid Click Vinyl is made from vinyl and Hybrid Wood is made from wood. But what exactly does that mean? Click Vinyl is made from poly vinyl chloride, which is combined with stone minerals. This creates the Rigid Mineral Core, which makes the floor super resistant and 100% water-resistant. Hybrid Wood floors are made entirely of wood, but are at least as strong. This is due to the Wood Powder technology, in which wood residues and precious resins are pressed together under enormous pressure, making the floor extremely pressure-resistant.

Are hybrid wood floors also water-resistant?

Although they are made of wood, Hybrid Wood floors are also water-resistant. They are not completely waterproof, but thanks to the Aqua Seal sealant, the straight planks are waterproof for up to 24 hours. Yes, you read that right: Wooden floors that are water-resistant for up to 24 hours!

Differences when laying the floors

An important question when choosing your floor is: Do I want to lay it myself or have someone else do it? Not all floors are easy to install without experience. Installing a glued vinyl floor is quite specialized and we recommend leaving this to an experienced installer. Hybrid Wood floors can also be glued down, but this can also be a challenge without the right experience. Fortunately, these floors are equipped with a Fastclick connection, so they can also be installed floating on a suitable subfloor. This also applies to Rigid Click Vinyl floors. You can even compare the installation of Hybrid Wood and Nature Rigid Click Vinyl flooring with the installation of laminate flooring.

However, there is a significant difference in the installation of Hybrid Wood floors in a Herringbone pattern and Whalebone Rigid Click vinyl floors. Hybrid Wood floors have a universal click connection, while Rigid Click Vinyl floors do not. With both Herringbone and Whalebone floors, you need to take A and B planks into account, which requires extra attention during installation.

Floor care

When you think of wood floors, you might initially think of high maintenance. But we hit the nail on the head with this one: Hybrid Wood floors are extremely easy to maintain. In contrast to parquet floors, which need to be refinished over time, this is not necessary with a Hybrid Wood floor. Sanding? No need for that. All you need to do is vacuum the floor occasionally and mop it with lukewarm water. Want to use a cleaning agent? Then choose one that is suitable for lacquered wooden floors. The same applies to Rigid Click Vinyl floors: occasional vacuuming and mopping with a cleaning agent specially made for vinyl is sufficient.

Appearance of the floor

We can say that Hybrid Wood is a real wooden floor. This is also reflected in its appearance: the charm of wood immediately brings warmth into your home. The finely brushed structure of the floors provides an authentic look. Although a click vinyl floor is not real wood, it has a design that resembles oak wood. Thanks to their tactile wood structure and a MEGAMAT coating, they look very similar to a wooden floor. You could almost think they are cut from the same wood, but this is not the case.

In combination with underfloor heating

Both floors are suitable for underfloor heating, but there is one difference: Klick VInyl has a lower thermal resistance. Expressed in figures, this means that Klick Vinyl has a thermal resistance of 0.039 m²K/W, while Hybrid Wood has a value of 0.07 m²K/W. In short, both options are suitable for underfloor heating!

So which floor is better? That depends entirely on your personal preferences. Do you want a completely waterproof floor that is ideal for underfloor heating? Then a click vinyl floor will suit you perfectly. Do you also value water resistance and underfloor heating, but want the charm of real wood? Then hybrid wood is the best choice.
