Here we are shining the light onto our two stars! In this blog, we compare our Akucork and Akupanel wall panels to help you come to an easier decision. We will list all the differences and similarities between the two wall coverings. Find out everything you need to know here!
Acoustic wall panels
One of the most important similarities between the two wall panels is their acoustic function. By installing one of these panels, you significantly improve the acoustics in the room. But how exactly does it work? The wall panels absorb sound waves that would otherwise float around the room. This happens because the pores in the material absorb the sound waves and thus reduce the reflections. With the Akupanels, the sound is absorbed by the felt, while with the Akucork panels, the sound waves in the open spaces are absorbed by the cork bark. The result? Much less reverberation in the house.
Sustainable wall panels
To get straight to the point: The wall panels are MEGA sustainable (not MEGAMAT). The Akupanel wall panels are made from wooden slats sourced from sustainable forestry and attached to a felt backing made from recycled PET bottles. The Akucork wall panels, on the other hand, are made entirely from cork, a 100% natural raw material. The bark for the panels is harvested directly from the tree. This environmentally friendly process means that the trees are not felled or damaged. In addition, the Akucork wall panels are made by hand, which makes them even more sustainable!
What is the difference in appearance?
When we talk about Akucork compared to Akupanel wall panels, we can’t ignore the difference in appearance. Although there are also linoleum Akupanel panels in the collection, most wall panels are made of wood. With the Akupanel wall panels, you can create an authentic wood look. Oak, ash, walnut, mahogany – we have various types of wood that perfectly match your interior. Thanks to its real bark, Akucork brings a lively ambience into your home, creating a natural atmosphere.
The Akupanel wall panels are characterized by their slim, symmetrical and parallel slats. Made from wood, the slats have a sleek, modern look. The minimalist design creates a sophisticated and uniform appearance in any room. The Akucork wall panels, on the other hand, have a more organic and random structure. The bark has an irregular texture that emphasizes its natural character, so no two panels are the same. This gives the panels an unique appearance. Both panels also convey a sense of calm not only to the ear, but also to the eye.
How do you install the wall panels?
Installing the wall panels is child’s play. Both types of panels can be installed using the High Tack Kit. Simply apply the sealant to the back of the wall panels, spread it evenly and press it firmly against the wall. Does the panel not fit your wall properly? Then you can simply cut it to size. There is another mounting option for acupanels: they can be screwed to the wall. This makes it easy to remove the panels later, for example if you move house.
Both wall panels are of course beautiful to look at and enhance your interior in their own way. Whether you choose Floer Akucork or Akupanel, with both you are making a sustainable and environmentally conscious choice.
