Additionally, tough concrete-look tiles and special whalebone vinyl make it possible to create a truly unique flooring experience. But what makes vinyl so popular? In this FloerTube video, we explore the six main advantages of vinyl floors.

The six advantages of Vinyl floors

Vinyl flooring is extremely popular due to its wide range of options and benefits. Below are just some of the advantages of vinyl floors:

  1. 100% waterproof
  2. Perfect for underfloor heating
  3. Maintenance-free
  4. Layout options
  5. Soundproof
  6. No skirting required

Vinyl floors offer a significant benefit with their 100% water resistance. Accidents can occur – a child, partner, or pet might knock over a glass of water, or you might have an unexpected reaction to a spider’s presence. Fortunately, with a vinyl floor, there’s no need to worry. These floors are made of a highly water-resistant material, meaning that even if a bucket of water spills, it won’t cause any damage. In short, water on a vinyl floor is not a problem!

2. Underfloor heating & Vinyl

Floer VloerverwarmingYou can enjoy a unique advantage with vinyl floors! They can be combined perfectly with underfloor heating and cooling, allowing you to create a pleasant indoor climate in your home. During winter, vinyl’s extremely low thermal resistance provides a warm house, while in hot summer months, the floor can cool down and provide refreshing temperatures. This applies to both Dryback Vinyl floors and Vinyl with a Rigid Click connection. The plastic material and plank construction of vinyl floors contribute to their low thermal resistance. A floor’s thermal resistance indicates how much heat the floor resists, or in other words, how quickly the floor allows heat to pass through it. It’s interesting to note that laminate and parquet floors can also be laid on underfloor heating. Read more about which floors are suitable for underfloor heating.

Floer check: fact or fable

”Are Rigid Click Vinyl floors less suitable for underfloor heating?”

It is commonly believed that people choose dryback vinyl floors for their homes with underfloor heating. However, did you know that rigid click vinyl floors are also highly suitable for underfloor heating? Unlike dryback vinyl, this floor does not require an underlay. Moreover, the slightly thicker floor parts, due to the rigid core intermediate layer, provide better insulation. With a super low thermal resistance of 0.039 m2 K/W, rigid click vinyl floors are also ideal for use with underfloor heating. Let’s be clear: combining underfloor heating with a vinyl floor yields the best results!

3. Maintenance-free

Looking for the look of an oak parquet floor without the maintenance? Then you should consider a vinyl floor! While wooden floors are beautiful, not everyone wants to deal with the high maintenance that comes with oak parquet floors. Vinyl floors, on the other hand, require little maintenance and don’t need oil treatment. All you need to do is vacuum them regularly and occasionally mop them (but don’t use all-purpose cleaner or similar cleaning products!). If you don’t enjoy cleaning, vinyl floors are the way to go since they are easy to keep clean.

4. Layout options

Dryback vinyl is often considered the best-kept secret of vinyl flooring due to its seamless joints, allowing for a wide range of creative patterns such as elbow, ladder, traditional herringbone, or half-brick bond. Unlike click-together floors, dryback vinyl is glued to the underlay, making it possible to choose a different pattern. If you love the Whalebone Vinyl but cannot find your preferred colour, be sure to explore the Village and Forest Vinyl collections. These wide vinyl floors can also be laid in an XL herringbone pattern, providing even more versatility to your choices!

Rigid Click Vinyl floors are designed with a click connection and therefore cannot be glued. 5. Soundproof

Did you know that vinyl flooring is great for soundproofing? If you live in an apartment or don’t like the sound of walking on laminate floors, choose vinyl! Thanks to its unique properties, vinyl floors effectively reduce both impact sound and walking noise, making them a superior choice for those seeking noise reduction. This is a significant advantage of these versatile and durable plastic floors.

Please note: must the Owners’ Association (VvE) demonstrably meet the 10dB noise requirement? If so, a subfloor with a certificate must be used. Vinyl floors do not come with this certificate.

6. No skirting required!

Want a super sleek finish? Then choose Dryback Vinyl flooring. It can be laid almost flush to the wall, eliminating the need for skirting boards. This is a great advantage for your interior design. The floor only requires a 0.25 mm gap between the wall and floor, which can be filled with sealant. Ask your nearest Floer dealer about the possibilities. This will give you an extremely tight end result!

Additional benefits of Vinyl flooring

Floer-Whalebone-Dryback-Vinyl-Orka-Untreated-high-plinth the-six-advantages-of-vinyl-floorsThere are more than six advantages of vinyl floors, including the quality and interior features!

Of course, you want a floor that can withstand impact and is of high quality. With vinyl, you can have such a floor. The Rigid Click Vinyl and Dryback Vinyl floors have a high usage class. What does the usage class of a floor mean? Simply put, the usage class indicates the quality of the floor, with higher classes indicating higher quality. There are three categories: domestic, commercial, and industrial use. The Floer dryback vinyl and rigid click vinyl floors are suitable for commercial and even some industrial use. Last but not least, vinyl floors are super hard-wearing and can last for years. The vinyl strips are also extra protected against scratches and stains by the scratch-resistant top layer.

Vinyl floors are a great choice for anyone interested in interior design. One of their major advantages is their versatility – they can be used in any room of the house! By choosing a single floor that you love, you can create a cohesive look throughout your living room, kitchen, bathroom, and toilet. Plus, dryback vinyl floors can be laid without skirting boards, making installation even easier.
