Levelling for click Vinyl

Are you considering giving your home a stylish makeover with the help of a beautiful floor? Then Floer is always the right place for you. Would you also like a Vinyl floor that can be removed? Then Floer is the place for you! Within our click Vinyl collections there is a wide range of beautiful floors, in both herringbone and straight strip patterns. And a good start is half of the work, of course! So today we will answer the question: “Is levelling necessary with click Vinyl?”, so that you can start with a good basis.

The need for levelling

Before researching whether it is necessary to level at all, it is smart to first find out why a surface needs to be levelled. Levelling is necessary when you have a surface that is very uneven – in fact, a levelling layer creates a flat surface with no unevenness. Levelling is a popular preparation when installing a Vinyl floor. This is because Vinyl flooring – it’s in the name – is glued directly to the surface. The floorboards of a glued Vinyl floor are relatively thin, so any unevenness can quickly become visible if not levelled. With a levelled surface, you preserve the quality and lifespan of your glued Vinyl flooring, in addition to ensuring that unevenness is not visible through the Floer.

Versatile click Vinyl

So when you are looking for a Vinyl floor, you have the choice of glued Vinyl or click Vinyl. For households where a glued floor is not possible, a click Vinyl floor is an excellent choice! This is because Floer’s Rigid Click Vinyl floors have all the advantages of glued Vinyl, including the user-friendly installation method. This means that you can install your own floor, without the help of an experienced floor installer. Rigid click Vinyl floors are also 100% waterproof, extremely durable due to their solid rigid core, have beautiful patterns in both wood and stone and tile look, and are available in the charming herringbone pattern! All you need for these floors is … right, a matching underlay!

The importance of the right underlay

Because click Vinyl floors are finished with a heavy stone core, it is important to choose the right underlay. Fortunately, for Rigid Click Vinyl flooring, the right subfloor is pretty self-explanatory. To maintain the warranty of a click Vinyl floor, it is important to choose an underlay that can handle the weight of the floorboards and protect the click connection from springing. The suitable underlay for these extra-heavy floors is the Rigid Click Underlay – specially developed for click Vinyl floors. This yellow underlay has a compressive strength of no less than 400 kPa, is moisture resistant and has an extra-low thermal resistance. Because the underlay is so compressively strong, it will not spring and will protect the click connection of the floorboards.

Is levelling necessary with click Vinyl?

Let’s go back to the core of this blog – is it necessary to level with a click Vinyl floor? In short, the answer to this question is, “No, levelling is not necessary with a click Vinyl floor, provided the surface has no unevenness greater than the levelling capacity of your chosen underlay”. In the case of the Rigid Click Underlay this is 1.1 millimetres. Do you have unevennesses greater than the levelling capacity? Then levelling may be necessary. In any case, at Floer we recommend inquiring well about your situation at one of our many dealers, so that you can be sure to start with a good preparation. Because, good preparation is half the work!
