Check out the latest FloerTube video! This video explores the differences between floors without grooves, and with micro bevel or V-groove. Edge finishes, also known as grooves, can give floors a beautiful appearance. There are three different types: a V-groove around the plank (2-V and 4-V), a micro bevel, or a flat floor without grooves. If you’re considering a new floor, it’s important to understand the differences between these types of edge finishes. We’re happy to explain them to you!
Floors without grooves, with micro bevel or V-groove
Floors without grooves
Floors without grooves provide a sleek result. Most laminate and vinyl floors have a V-groove or micro bevel around the plank. However, oak parquet floors can be customised and personalised based on your preferences. This means that oak wooden floors are available with a V-groove, micro bevel, or flat finish. If you choose a flat finish, it can give your home a special effect, creating a calm appearance.
If you want a laminate floor without a groove, check out our unique vintage collection of Reclaimed Wood Laminate, which includes some floors with a flat finish. And if you’re curious about a parquet floor without grooves, take a look at the inspiring photos and video of a completely flat oak herringbone parquet floor.
A subtle micro bevel
Vinyl floors with a micro bevel are thinner compared to laminate or oak wooden floors. However, a micro-bevel in a Dryback Vinyl or Rigid Click Vinyl floor can give the appearance of a realistic wooden plank. It is important to note that V-groove flooring, which has a thickness of 2mm or more, cannot have a micro bevel.
Moreover, Rigid Click Vinyl floors have a greater thickness as compared to Dryback Vinyl floors, and have a wider range of options available, including those with a micro bevel (also called 4-MV) and 4-V groove. With such a vast selection available, one can explore and choose from a variety of Dryback Vinyl floors or Nature Rigid Click Vinyl floors with a subtle micro bevel (MV groove) to get the desired look.
Floors with a V-groove
A groove enhances the appearance of the plank. You have two options to choose from: 2-V and 4-V. If you choose a floor with a 2-V, the groove will only be on the long side of the plank, creating a stunning continuous pattern. On the other hand, if you choose a floor with a 4-V, there will be a groove on all sides, which will further emphasize the size of the plank. This can enhance the pattern, as seen with a herringbone floor, or the width, as seen with a wide laminate floor.
If you’re interested in a floor with a 2-V groove, look no further than the Country House Laminate Untreated Oak. This high-quality laminate boasts an endless continuous pattern, courtesy of the 2-sided groove on the long side. Our Herringbone Laminate collection, along with the Herringbone Rigid Click Vinyl floors, are expertly finished with a 4-sided V-groove. This accentuates the plank parts and adds an extra touch of sophistication to the herringbone pattern.
