Vinyl Flooring in the Bathroom

Is your bathroom floor due for replacement, or are you just tired of those old tiles that haven’t been relevant for the last 10 years? Then consider choosing one of the Vinyl floors. These floors are 100% water-resistant and very durable. The versatile Vinyl tile floors are available in self-adhesive Vinyl tiles and Click Vinyl tiles. Which floor should you choose for the bathroom? That depends on your personal preference. Are you going to install a Click Vinyl floor? Make sure to always use the Rigid Click Vinyl underlay. This underlay has an extra high compression strength, providing enough resistance for the heavy Click Vinyl floors.

In most cases, the surface will need to be levelled when installing a glued Vinyl floor if it is not even enough. Click Vinyl floors are slightly easier to install because they come with a click connection, but they do require an underlay. Can steam or moisture from the shower damage the Vinyl floor? No. If the floor is installed according to the installation guidelines, steam and moisture generated while showering should not cause any damage. However, Vinyl floors cannot withstand the use of a steam cleaner. This is because steam from a steam cleaner has a much higher temperature and can press this steam between the floor panels, which softens the glue underneath the floor. So, never use a steam cleaner to clean your floor.

Vinyl Tiles for the Bathroom

Do you want a concrete-look tile floor in the bathroom while also enjoying the benefits of a Vinyl floor? Then a Tile Vinyl floor might be the best option for you. These tile floors have a strong wear layer, so not only do they look very durable due to the concrete appearance, but they are actually very strong. A major advantage of Vinyl tiles over a real tile floor? A real tile floor can often feel very cold, making it uncomfortable to walk on. Vinyl, on the other hand, has a very low thermal resistance, allowing heat from the subfloor to easily transfer through. Do you have underfloor heating in the bathroom? Then this is the perfect combination!

Just like all other Vinyl floors, Rigid Click Vinyl floors also have low thermal resistance and are 100% water-resistant. Would you like a Click Vinyl floor but prefer a patterned design? Then go for a herringbone Vinyl floor from the Herringbone Click Vinyl collection.

Oak Vinyl in the Bathroom

Vinyl floors come in all kinds of styles and sizes. You don’t necessarily have to install a concrete-look Vinyl floor in the bathroom. If you’d like an oak Vinyl floor in the bathroom, you can definitely choose that as well. For example, with an extra wide Vinyl floor, you can easily create a sense of space. The wide floorboards can make a room look larger than it actually is. Do you have a smaller bathroom? Then an extra wide Vinyl floor is definitely something to keep in mind. Are you a fan of large floorboards or want to try something different? The XL herringbone floors from the Whalebone Vinyl collection are longer and wider than the standard Herringbone Vinyl floors.

What should I pay attention to?

There are a few important things to consider when choosing to install a Vinyl floor in the bathroom. It’s important to lay all floors according to the installation guidelines that come with the product. If this is not done, the floor may not be properly installed, leading to possible damage. Would you like to install the Vinyl floor in the shower stall as well? This is possible, but make sure that the edges between the floor and the shower stall are well sealed. It’s best to use a silicone sealant for this.

If you’ve sealed the Vinyl floor properly and installed it according to the guidelines, both click and self-adhesive Vinyl floors are 100% waterproof. You don’t need to worry about the adhesive layer under a glued floor coming loose. However, this could happen if water damage occurs beneath the floor, for example, from a pipe bursting underground. Water getting underneath the floor will cause the adhesive to soften, potentially leading to the floorboards coming loose.

Waterproof Laminate

Can a waterproof laminate floor be installed in the bathroom? Water-resistant wide laminate floors are waterproof up to the groove, and small puddles can remain on the floor for up to 4 hours. So, if you accidentally forget to dry the floor after showering and a puddle of water stays on the floor all night, it could damage the laminate. Also, if the laminate is not installed properly and there’s a small gap between the planks, water can seep underneath the floorboards. This could cause the planks to swell and mold to form underneath them.

Looking for a unique XL floor for the living room? The wide laminate floors from the Country House Laminate collection are more than 32 cm wide and available in light oak to dark oak. Or create an optical effect with an extra-long laminate floor. With a length of almost 2 meters per plank, the Authentic Laminate floors are the longest of their kind.

Laying a Floor Over Tiles

Do you want to install a Vinyl floor over an old tile floor? Or Vinyl over tiles with underfloor heating? This is possible, but you’ll need to consider a few things. A tile floor is uneven due to the joints between the tiles, so you can’t just lay any Vinyl floor on top of it. If you want to install a Vinyl floor over a tile floor in your bathroom, always make sure the old tile floor is level enough to lay a Vinyl floor on top. When is a surface level enough to lay a floor on? Per meter, the surface should not have more than a 2 mm height difference. If this isn’t the case, and your floor looks more like Mount Everest, you’ll need to level it so the new floor can be installed perfectly.

Leveling a floor isn’t something that’s only done when laying Vinyl floors. Laminate floors also can’t be installed on a surface that’s completely uneven. Want a real wood floor in your home?
