Last month was Earth Day! A great moment to reflect on the impact we make.

At Floer, sustainability is an important core value. After all, the floor you choose often stays in place for many years. That is why you want to be sure you are choosing a high-quality floor that lasts.

That is why we also look at how we produce, which materials we use, and how we can reduce our impact. In this blog, we explain how we approach this and how you can easily contribute too!

How does Floer contribute to a more sustainable world?

At Floer, we work every day to reduce our impact on the environment. We do this in several ways:

  • Collaborations such as with Trees for All
  • Developing floors with a long lifespan
  • Using safe and conscious materias, such as phthalate-free vinyl
  • Continuously improving our production processes

In this way, we are building a more sustainable future step by step.

CO₂ partner & tree partner of Trees for All

An important part of our approach is the collaboration with Trees for All. This organization is committed worldwide to reforestation and restoring natural areas.

Trees for All

As a tree partner, we actively contribute to planting trees. We have already had 600 trees planted.

Our contribution supports various projects. In the Netherlands, we contribute to new forests in KempenBroek and Overijssel. In addition, we support forest restoration in Mexico and the protection of nature and orangutans in Borneo.

In this way, we contribute to restoring nature, both locally and worldwide.

Floors with a long lifespan

In addition to our collaboration with Trees for All, we also critically assess the quality of our products. That is why we develop floors designed to last for many years.

By choosing a strong floor that can withstand intensive use, you can prevent having to replace it quickly. This means less waste and less use of new raw materials. And that makes a big difference, both for the environment and for your wallet.

For example, pay attention to the usage class of a floor. A higher usage class means that a floor is suitable for intensive use and lasts longer. Laminate and vinyl floors with a usage class of AC4 or higher therefore stay beautiful for an extra long time, even with daily use.

In addition, many floors are low maintenance. You need very few cleaning products and the floor stays in top condition with simple maintenance. That also contributes to a more sustainable way of living.

Conscious material choices and production processes

In addition to lifespan, we also look at what is inside a floor. MEGAMAT Vinyl floors from Floer are 100% phthalate-free. Instad of harmful plasticizers, we use a safe and environmentally friendly alternative that complies with strict international standards.

As a result, the floors remain flexible, strong and comfortable, without negatively impacting your living environment.

We also make conscious choices with other products. For example, Floer Akucork Wall Panels are produced without cutting down trees.  The cork is harvested while the tree continues to grow.

What does this mean for you as a Floer customer?

What makes this approach extra special is that, as a customer, you automatically contribute to a greener world when you choose Floer.

In addition, when requesting samples, you have the option to take an extra step. You can choose a small CO₂-compensation

Together, we make a difference

Earth Day is not only a moment to reflect on our impact, but above all to take action.

At Floer, we work on this every single day. And you can easily be part of it.

When you choose Floer, you choose a stylish and low-maintenance floor while also contributing to a greener world.
